Ties Weekly Update #31

18 November, 2004

LAST TWO TIE PROJECTS NEARING COMPLETION!!

As of November 18th, 2004, we have installed just over the 245,000 that we had originally scheduled for installation in the 2004 season.

The last two projects were completed over the course of the last week and although there will be a few ties installed in some small projects that are still remaining, the major tie projects for 2004 are now 100% completed.

Preparations are now being made for the 2005 and beyond tie programs as well as all of the other capital programs on both properties.  Preliminary figures indicate we should be installing somewhere in the vicinity of 125,000 ties for the 2005 year.

¨       The LA Colo crew began installing over 10,000 ties on the double track of the Kansas City sub last week and has completed that project and has left the property for the year.  This crew installed over 90,000 ties and installed 15 miles of rail on the two properties this year and did an excellent job on all projects.

¨       Wes Risseeuw’s tie crew completed their last project of the year, installing 7,000 ties near Midland.  This crew installed over 30,000 ties this year as well as building several new sidings and siding extensions.

¨       Jim Nemec’s crew will continue to install a few ties in conjunction with surfacing crews on the PRC sub until the end of the year.

¨       Steve Koser’s tie crew also installed over 30,000 ties this year before being converted to a steel crew to lay CWR on the IC&E curves.

¨       Taking all things into consideration, the siding additions, the siding extensions, the Florence connection and the additional projects, we have installed over 245,000 ties this production season.
