7 October 2004

CWR PROJECTS OVER 95% COMPLETED!!!!

As of October 7 we have installed just over 93 of the roughly 97 track miles to be completed by November 19th.  The L A Colo crew completed their portion of this year’s CWR program when they finished the Calmar CWR earlier in September and the IC&E CWR crew completed the River sub portion of the CWR program on Tuesday the 21st of September.  They will now install an additional 10,000 ties near Muscatine prior to completing the CWR program on the Kansas City sub in October and November.

On the DM&E, surfacing was completed and the speed was raised to 40 MPH on the Cobden section of CWR located on the Tracy sub.  On the Huron sub the Arlington section of CWR was raised to 40 MPH just last Monday.  This is the first time in memory that any track on the Tracy or Huron sub divisions has been above 30 MPH.  Crews will continue to work on the Tyler sections of CWR of the Huron sub to raise those speeds to 40 MPH by year’s end.  Crews are also working on the Calmar area of the Mason City sub to get that area up to 40 MPH by the end of the season also.

¨       Chad Roob’s crossing gang with the assistance of Cory Lunn’s rail change out crew, have installed the last crossing on the Tyler CWR area and will now concentrate on completing the Florence siding and BN connection and clean up. These two young men and their crews have now assisted with the installation of more than 20 premium mainline switches, 20 concrete crossings and nearly 50 plank crossings.

¨       Mike Anderson, who in his normal job is the section foreman at Tracy Minnesota, has done an excellent job working with Mark Trudeau and coordinating all of the crews on the Tyler project.

¨       Randy Parmenter’s crew has completed all of the crossings on the Calmar CWR project and will spend the remainder of the season on clean up and other crossing projects

¨       The clean up effort on the Calmar CWR is near completion and will be completed in front of the final surfacing which is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
