SEVEN MAJOR RAIL PROJECTS SCHEDULED FOR THE 2008 PRODUCTION SEASON!!  OVER 70 MILES OF CWR TO BE INSTALLED THIS YEAR!!

With the additional $12 million in Capital we now will have seven major CWR projects to headline the 2008 production year.  Six of these projects will contain new 136# CWR and the seventh will involve used 90# and 100# CWR.

¨       The first project which was started in 2008 was one of nearly 20 miles between Verdi, Minnesota and Aurora, South Dakota on the Huron sub of the DM&E.  This project was started on May 28th by the RJ Corman group and will be supervised by EIC Kent Maxon as well as Project Supervisors Tim Meyer and Jim Nemec.  This project is scheduled to be completed in late June or very early July.  There have already been nearly eight track miles of rail laid in this project area.

¨       The second project will be one of 7.5 miles between Arlington and De Smet, South Dakota, going through Lake Preston also on the Huron sub of the DM&E.  This project is also an RJ Corman project and will be started immediately after the one mentioned above.  It is scheduled to be completed in mid-July.

¨       A third project of nearly 13 miles between Manchester and Cavour, South Dakota, on the Huron sub of the DM&E and again, this project is an RJ Corman which is scheduled to start in mid-July and be completed by the end of that month.

¨       The fourth project area is one of seven miles between Judson and Mankato, Minnesota on the Tracy sub.  The Railworks group out of Lakeville, Minnesota has been selected to lay the rail in this project area.  They are scheduled to begin in late June and complete in early July.

¨       The fifth CWR project is one of eight miles between Owatonna and Meridan, Minnesota on the Waseca sub of the DM&E.  This project is also scheduled for the Railworks group and is scheduled for July.

¨       The sixth and final project for the DM&E’s portion of the 2008 CWR schedule is one of 7.5 miles west of Waseca, Minnesota going through Janseville, Minnesota.  This project is scheduled to be laid by the RJ Corman group in early August.

¨       The final major CWR project of the year is on the IC&E and will involve about 10 miles of used CWR for the west end of the Mason City sub between Hobarton and Emmetsburg, Iowa.

¨       The last of the actual CWR projects is the annual curve project which this year will involve nearly 9 miles of premium rail for curve replacement on the KC, River, Chicago, Marquette and Mason City subs.

¨       Over 50 turnouts are now scheduled for installation in conjunction with these CWR projects as well as other project needs.  Turnouts will be supplied by Progress Rail and Nortrak.  Foremen Trevor Nelson will lead the west utility crew on installing the turnouts and crossings in all of the CWR areas on the Huron sub and Foreman Darren Legare will lead the east utility crew installing turnouts and crossings in the CWR areas on the Waseca and Tracy subs.  Foreman Mike Foutch will lead a similar effort on the Mason City, Owatonna, and Jackson subs on the IC&E.

¨       All CWR will be supplied by LB Foster and Progress Rail Services.

¨       CWR will be installed by the RJ Corman group and Railworks starting in late May with a scheduled completion in August.
